How to use the tire changer?

How to use the tire changer:

  1. Tire removal operation

1).Preparation

  • Release all air from the tire, remove the valve core, and store it securely.
  • Remove the balance weights from the rim to prevent them from being missed or damaged during installation.
  • Clean the tire and rim surfaces to ensure they are free of debris.

2).Separate the tire from the rim

  • Place the tire on the workbench of the tire changer and adjust the position so that the center of the tire aligns with the center of the turntable.
  • Depress the separation shovel pedal, bringing the shovel into contact with the edge of the rim. Gently apply pressure to initially separate the tire from the rim.
  • Rotate the tire and repeat this process, ensuring that the tire and rim are separated in multiple locations to avoid excessive localized force.

3).Fixed rim

  • Press the tire gripper pedal to open the jaws. Place the rim firmly on the turntable, ensuring it is fully seated in the grippers.
  • Press the pedal again to tighten the grippers and secure the rim. Check that the rim is secure to prevent it from loosening during tire removal.

4).Apply grease

  • Apply grease evenly on the contact area between the inner ring of the tire and the rim to reduce friction when removing the tire and prevent damage to the tire and rim.

5).Tire removal

  • Pull down the removal arm so that the inner roller of the chuck aligns with the edge of the rim. Secure the chuck with the telescopic arm lock.
  • Use a crowbar to pry the edge of the tire onto the removal head, ensuring that the edge of the tire completely covers the inner curved surface of the removal head.
  • Depress the turntable pedal to rotate the chuck clockwise and remove one side of the tire from the rim.
  • Repeat the above steps to remove the other side of the tire to complete the tire removal process.
  1. Tire installation operation

1). Preparation

  • Clean the rim and inside of the tire to ensure there are no dust, oil, or other debris.
  • Check the tire for damage, the valve stem, and the rim for deformation or damage.

2).Fixed rim

  • Place the rim on the turntable of the tire changer and step on the clamp pedal to secure the rim, the same as when removing a tire.

3).Apply grease

  • Apply grease again to the contact area between the inner edge of the tire and the rim to ensure smooth installation.

4).Installing tires

  • Place the tire on the rim, aligning the valve stem in the proper direction, typically at 12 o'clock.
  • Move the mounting and disassembly arm so the clamp presses against the edge of the tire. Press the pedal to gradually press the tire into the rim.
  • Turn the turntable to press the other side of the tire into the rim. Observe the tire as you go to ensure it is evenly installed, without any binding or shifting.

5).Inspection and adjustment

  • After installation, check that the tire is fully seated on the rim and that the valve stem is securely installed.
  • If necessary, make minor adjustments to the tire's position to ensure it is properly installed.
  1. Inflation operation

1).Preparation

  • Install the valve core securely and ensure it is leak-free.
  • Check the inflation system for proper function and the pressure gauge for accuracy.

2). Inflation

  • Connect the inflation hose connector to the tire valve and slowly inflate.
  • During the inflation process, closely monitor the pressure gauge and inflate the tire to the standard value specified for your vehicle. Generally, the pressure for passenger car tires is between 0.23-0.25 MPa.
  • After inflation, check the tire for leaks. Apply soapy water to the valve stem and rim to check for bubbles.

Precautions

  • Wear protective gloves during operation to prevent hand injuries.
  • When removing or installing a tire, avoid applying excessive force to prevent damage to the tire or rim.
  • Regularly check the tire changer's lubrication and component wear, and perform timely maintenance.
  • If a tire is difficult to remove or install, increase the amount of grease or adjust the operating method. Never force the tire.
